What to Bring to a Club Fitting

A short checklist so you get more from every minute on the monitor — from your current gamer to honest goals.

Showing up prepared turns a good fitting into a great one. You do not need a lab notebook — just a few practical items and clear intent.

Bring these

  • Your current driver and the iron you hit most (often a 7-iron)
  • The grip size you like, or note if gloves feel tight/loose
  • Recent notes from a coach if you have them (attack angle, path tendencies)
  • Honest goals: more distance, tighter dispersion, better turf interaction, or all of the above ranked
  • Any physical limits (back, wrist, shoulder) that affect posture or length

Leave these at home

  • The idea that you must buy same day
  • Brand loyalty that blocks you from trying a better-performing option
  • Expectation that one magic shaft erases a swing fault still under construction

During the session

Hit your normal swing. Do not manufacture a tour move for the camera. Tell the fitter when a head feels closed, heavy, or harsh — feel plus data is the product.

Ask for the final recommendation in writing before you leave. That sheet is your map whether you build with that shop or take time to decide.

Arrive a few minutes early, warmed up if you can. Cold hands and a cold swing waste the first rack of balls.
